Admin: Learner Access Settings

Canopy admin can determine if new learners must be provisioned prior to joining your Canopy or if learners are able to create an account from the login page without being provisioned first. 


Learner Access Settings 

To determine the new learner access settings in Canopy: 

1. Login to your Canopy as an Admin 

2. Navigate to User Settings 

3. Expand the drop down to choose between:

  • Anyone can create a learner account from the login page 
  • Only accounts uploaded by Admin can log in 

4. Select 'Apply' to save your user access setting. 




Anyone can create a learner account from the login page

When the learner access setting is set to 'Anyone can create a learner account from the login page' a new learner is able to create an account from the login page without being provisioned by an admin first. 


This allows instructors to share your custom Canopy domain with new learners to create their learner account independently and join a course.  


Only accounts uploaded by Admin can log in 

When the learner access setting is set to 'Only accounts uploaded by Admin can log in' new learners must be provisioned by an admin prior to their first login.
