Admin: Provision Users for Your Canopy

Admin can add users and determine their permission levels individually or in bulk using a CSV upload. 


Admin can also enable an access setting to allow learners to create an account without being provisioned. 


Provision a User Individually

To add a single user, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to User Settings.

  2. Click Add a New User.

  3. Input the user’s email address.

  4. Determine and select the appropriate permissions for the user.

  5. Check the box confirming this person has given permission. 

  6. Click Save.





Provision Users with CSV Upload

For bulk user provisioning, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to User Settings.

  2. Click Add New Users.

  3. Select the permission level(s) that the users should have. 

    • Note: All users in the CSV need to have the same permission levels. 

  4. Upload a CSV file containing user details:

    • Download the provided CSV template.

    • Complete the required fields in the template.

    • Ensure the CSV file is correctly formatted

  5. Click Save.

Once saved, all provisioned users will receive an email with instructions to access their accounts.

Required Fields for CSV Upload

When completing the CSV template, ensure that the following fields are completed:

  • Email Address 

  • First Name 

  • Last Name 


Users who are provisioned using a csv upload will all be granted the permission levels selected. 

Permissions can be edited from the User Settings




Error: User limit reached 

  • This indicates your organization has met the limit of users for your subscription level. 
  • If users are being provisioned through a CSV upload, the number of accounts being provisioned will cause your organization to exceed it's account limit.

Error: New user error 

  • This error can be a result of missing information in the csv file or an error in the users email address. 
  • Check the csv file fields to ensure all required information is included. 
  • For individual users, ensure their email address has been entered correctly, a permission level has been selected, and the user gave permission to be added has been selected. 

Learner Access Settings 

To allow learners the ability to create their account without needing to be provisioned, update the learner access settings found in the User Settings dashboard.


By enabling 'Anyone to create a learner account from the login page' learners can create their account independently to join a course.
