Learner: Submitting a Video Question

As a learner, you may be asked to complete a video question. The video response question may be a recording from your computer's camera or a screencast of your screen.

Video response questions can be submitted by creating a video recording or screencast. Your course manager will determine which options are visible to you as a learner.

Submitting a Video Response

To submit a video recording in a Canopy course complete the following steps.

1. Select the 'Record with your camera' option. Keep in mind if your instructor has limited learners to video response only you will only see the camera option.

2. You may need to set your camera settings for the Canopy site. We recommend choosing 'Allow while visiting the site' to avoid having to do this step for future video responses.

3. Click 'Start Recording'. You will receive a 3 second countdown and then your video will begin recording. Click in the same area to 'Stop Recording'. You may review your video before submitting.

4. Optional: Capture a thumbnail image. Thumbnail images will appear before viewers play the video.

If you take a thumbnail image here, select 'Use as thumbnail' to save.

5. Submit your video.

Once your video response has been submitted, a timestamp will appear to show you have successfully submitted your response in your course.

Submitting a Screencast Response

To submit a screencast recording in a Canopy course complete the following steps.

1. Select the 'Record your screen' option. Keep in mind if your instructor has limited learners to screencast responses only you will only see the screen option.

2. Select the tab, window, or screen you would like to record. Select 'Share' to begin your screencast recording. Your recording will begin immediately.

3. Select your Canopy tab to 'Stop Recording'. Your screencast will automatically upload in your course. You may review your video before submitting.

4. Submit your screencast video.

Once your video response has been submitted, a timestamp will appear to show you have successfully submitted your response.
